3/50 Project

Today is a very exciting day for me. I have been working endlessly on a project that is close to my heart. I am so happy that this day and the next step of my plan has arrived. From the beginning of my adventures on the web I have had one goal. That one goal was to connect the many families and businesses in Cape May County to each other. To inspire those around me, my neighbors, my co-workers, and (yes) even my family to understand that Cape May County is no longer isolated by water on 3 sides but with a click of a mouse options are available to them. Yes, with the help of the Internet you can virtually be anywhere in almost no time. This is great news and but consequently my dreams for Cape May County becoming “connected” could come at price. (more on that below)cape may

My first step was to create a network for Mom’s of Cape May County to connect, to meet online and arrange playdates, and address concerning issues that are effecting Cape May County families of today. What was first known as Motherhood Avenue is now known as CapeMay Moms.com boasting an active discussion forum and around 100 active mommy members of our community. This delights and excites me as we talk about Clifford at our very own library or our upcoming Renza Life Patrol event. (guarding our kids against Suicide Prevention)

My next step (todays step) is the Cape May County 3/50 project. I am delighted that along with Cape May County Moms we are reaching out to our local Mom and Pop stores and saying we support you. The 3/50 project, created by Cinda Baxter. Like I said before the even though the connection between each other through social media can be a beautiful thing it can come at a HUGE cost. Even though I am a beyond 11 Walmart mom, and am delighted that a Walmart now stands in Rio Grande we as a community need to take a stand and support our local community businesses. This is a grassroot effort. This is a home effort. This is an effort to save the bricks and mortar that lines the building of the companies that makes Cape May County survive, that makes Cape May County unique, and that makes Cape May County be able to survive. What companies in Cape May County would you miss if they were gone forever? Would it be the local pizza place, the breakfast joint around the corner, or would it be the corner store that is like no other in the whole entire world?

jvcI especially would like to thank a HUGE company in supporting this effort and my dreams for Cape May County. JVC electronics will be flying me to Chicago all expenses paid to Blogher next Thursday to further my understanding of social media, meet like minded people, and network with co-workers that I have been working on other projects with across the web. I am very excited about the week ahead. I am more excited that JVC electronics has stood up to hold hands with me as I launch the CMC350project.com.

Let me ask you again. What are 3 local companies that you would not be able to live without? Let me know!

P.S. I am pledging my support to these 3 companies this week.

  1. Sopranos Pizza
  2. Green Street Market
  3. Coast Radio (I guess I can’t pay to use their services but I will be a faithful listener this month)

I wonder what businesses I will choose next month???

Read up on the http://www.CMC350project.com and Leave me a comment and let me know your favorites this month.
