What to do when it Rains in Cape May County
Being the Cape May Mommy blogger I sometimes am unsure of the answers to give when given certain questions. One of those questions is, “what activities can we do if it rains while we are at the beach on vacation?”. What would you say? I hate weather when it doesn’t cooperate and being on a rainy vacation is the worst. I have had some answers that were filled with suggestions in and around Cape May County when on Vacation ……. But you have to give me credit for dreaming up this activity.
What to do in Cape May County if it rains?
There are just some things you shouldn’t leave home without. I was always a fan of a pad of paper and a pack of crayons and markers for every birthday party I entertained. Seeing that a vacation is a long party it should be no different.
Items needed:
Markers
Paper
Crayons
Optional:
Kids scissors
Cotton Balls
sand
Glue stick
Rain Art for a Rainy Day in Cape May or really Rain Art for a rainy vacation anywhere really?
Have children color all colors in abstract designs patterns and or have them have fun drawling a picture of the beach on a sunny day.
Place colored paper out in the rain for a couple seconds (while the kids are out let them jump in the puddles, sing and dance in the rain). If you choose to do this do so at your own risk. The point of letting them stretch their legs in between thunderstorms and rain at the Jersey Shore is to stretch this activity out while keeping them entertained.
Bring inside art work after letting them in the rain for a couple brief seconds.
Let dry in bathroom.
After the paper drys let them decorate their artwork.
Suggestions…..
Glue cotton balls into a beautiful multiple blue shaded sky.
Have them make mosaic art by cutting the “rained” paper and creating another picture with the pieces.
My favorite suggestion to do with this craft is to create a puzzle and have a race to see who could win.
